ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITIES OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA – ROMANIA – UKRAINE
On November 11-12, 2016, Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Universities of the Republic of Moldova — Romania – Ukraine was held at the City of Iasi, Romania. On behalf of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Stepan Melnychuk, Rector, Silvia Marut, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs, Nikoletta Holovach, Romanian Programmes Coordinator, International Relations Office, and Sergiy Nezhurbida, Rector’s Assistant participated in the Meeting.
The establishment of the Consortium of Universities of the Republic of Moldova — Romania – Ukraine was initiated in the late 2010, whilst the Agreement for its establishing was signed by rectors of the partnering universities – Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine), Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania), Stefan Cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania), George Eonescu University of Arts, Iasi (Romania), Alecu Russo State University of Balti (Republic of Moldova), and Moldova State University (Republic of Moldova) in Iasi in 2011.
This year’s meeting of rectors within the Consortium was organized by Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi. The rectors and vice-rectors of the six partnering universities of the Consortium analyzed the results of the annual cooperation and formulated the vision as to the main areas of the cross-border cooperation in the framework of the Consortium of Universities for the year to come.
Stepan Melnychuk, Rector of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Rector highly praised the level of partnership and experience gained out of the Consortium and the meeting and noted that it is due to the participation in the Consortium that ChNU successfully developed bilateral cooperation with its members. Following the Meeting, the Consortium Minutes were signed. The next meeting will be held at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, with Stepan Melnychuk elected Chairman of the Consortium of Universities of the Republic of Moldova — Romania – Ukraine for the next year.
