EMBROIDERY (VYSHYVANKA) DAY AT YURIY FEDKOVYCH CHERNIVTSI NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

On April 17th, students and academic staff of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University celebrated the day of Embroidery (Vyshyvanka –  Ukrainian embroidered shirt and clothing). Ukrainians say that person was born in a shirt if troubles and misfortune bypass him or her. 

The main idea of this event is to preserve, develop and support Ukrainian cultural heritage and traditions through organizing of different cultural, educational and entertainment events.

On the occasion of the Embroidery day the faculties of the University organized various flash mobs, exhibits, charity fairs, concerts.  

In the hall of the Scientific Library visitors had a possibility to see the display of books:  “Respect! Study! Embroider! Dress!”, where they could study works in the fields of historical and ethnocultural nature of Embroidery, its origin, history and territorial features, as well as its diversity and sacral essence.
