TRADITIONS OF BUKOVYNA

On March 19 – March 21, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted an exhibition of works executed by the students  of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Department of Decorative and Fine Arts.

The exhibition entitled “Traditions of Bukovina” presented works of decorative and applied arts: wood products, embroidered collections of clothing, artistic painting, jewelry, artistic weaving.

Professor Ihor Fodchuk, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building,  Applied and Decorative Arts informed that the department trains students in speciality 023 – Fine Art, Decorative Art, restoration by specialization: artistic wood processing, artistic metal processing, artistic blacksmithing, artistic weaving, artistic embroidery, modeling and designing of clothes, artistic painting, fine arts and drawing.

Today, the University has become a unique center of preservation and development of Applied and Fine Arts of Bukovyna and a well-known center in many countries of the world. Many graduates are members of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Union of Designers of Ukraine and the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine. Some graduates also receive scholarship of the President of Ukraine from  as well as the scholarship of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Some creative students’ works were presented at many Ukrainian and international exhibitions, competitions and festivals, where winners were awarded with first degree diplomas and degrees for originality and skill.
