Prof. Stepan Melnychuk
Prof. Stepan Melnychuk received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Chernivtsi. He earned his Candidate of Science and Doctorate in Physics at Chernivtsi University in 1976 and 1991 respectively. He was on the faculty at Chernivtsi University since that time.
Prof. Stepan Melnychuk is also a senior researcher at the Institute of Thermoelectricity (Chernivtsi).
In 2001 Prof. Stepan Melnychuk was appointed a Vice-Rector for scientific work, and in 2004 became provost of ChNU. In March 2005 he was elected Rector of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
In 2008, Prof. Stepan Melnychuk received the Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 1992 he received the Award of Ukrainian awarded Distinguished Master of Science and Engineering. In addition he was awarded the President’s Medal in 2010 for leadership in the application of technology to the teaching of logic.
Prof. Stepan Melnychuk is the author or co-author of over 160 scientific publications, including monographs, textbook and several tutorials for students and two books for secondary schools.
Fields of research: localized states in electronic and vacillating spectra of alloyed semiconductors, semi-magnetic semiconductors, short-termed semiconductors super lattices.
